for people to be healthy, they need healthy communities

Anyone who is interested in building bridges will benefit from the community workshops. We focus on improving understanding and communication between individuals to create inclusive communities where everyone can grow and thrive.

There are resident leaders in every community who are invested in finding more similarities than differences among people. Our workshops support these leaders as they develop a shared language for talking about systemic problems and creating strategies for dismantling oppression.

Current Workshops

For now, all workshops are being offered virtually. Contact us for scheduling.

Relationship Stories Workshop

This workshop will explore how people tell themselves “stories” about their interactions with others. Participants will learn how assumptions play a huge role in relationships and how to recognize when a story may be interfering with true communication.  Using story characters as models, new strategies to manage communication, address conflict, and improve interpersonal connections will be learned.

Anti-Bias Basics Workshop

This workshop teaches people where their unconscious biases come from and how to have self-compassion as they work toward becoming inclusive minded allies. Participants will learn to recognize when their biases are creating negative thinking about themselves and how to interrupt them.

Interrupting Microaggressions

To paraphrase poet Michael Kleber-Diggs, “microaggressions are the daily weight of not being accepted.” During this training participants will learn how to avoid being a bystander to microaggressions and get to practice several interruption techniques. Additionally, they will learn how to identify the 3 types of microaggressions and understand the negative messages they convey.

Inclusion Study Group

Using a combination of outside reading, journaling, discussion, and in-group practice we’ll coach a small group of people invested in diversity, equity, and inclusion.  Most group time will be spent addressing DEI issues that come up in the daily experiences of the members. We’ll also use the collective wisdom of the group to lead individuals towards success with their specific goals.  The study group is a 9 month commitment with the expectation that people are present for at least 6 meetings during that time. It is important for participants to develop a sense of trust with each other so after the 2nd meeting no new members will be admitted.
